Donald Trump has threatened to sue the BBC for US$1 billion after the corporation doctored a video of the US president to make it seem that he called for violence before the riot in Washington, DC on Jan. 6, 2021. The BBC's head of news and director general both resigned on Sunday over the modified video, which a leaked internal memo showed was understood by staff to be deceptive. The BBC has been embroiled in many scandals in recent years over its alleged left-liberal bias, including related to Israel, transgenderism, race and many other issues. Despite that, the organization's chairman has argued there is in fact no systemic bias at the BBC.

Canada has lost its measles elimination status, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. The UN's Pan American Health Organization revoked the status, held since 1998, after confirming there has been ongoing transmission of a single measles strain in the country for more than a year. PHAC said the disease is spreading mostly in "under-vaccinated communities."

Renegade MP Chris d’Entremont has claimed his defection from the Tories to the Liberals was "sealed" when the Conservative Party leadership barged into his office and screamed at him about "how much of a snake" he was. Speaking to Rosemary Barton at the CBC, d’Entremont said he felt like he was "part of a frat house rather than a serious political party." The Conservatives have denied his claims, however, with the Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition saying their former MP has "established himself a liar."

But as the troubles pile up for Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre, what do the Canadian people think of his potential replacements? If a new Abacus Data poll is anything to go by, the answer is: not much. The survey found that many people have higher approval ratings than Poilievre – including Stephen Harper, Doug Ford, Tim Houston and Caroline Mulroney – but in an election scenario, Poilievre would fare best against the Liberals.

The world has – for perhaps the first time ever – been paying attention to the Canadian Premier League. That's because the competition's final on Sunday was played in extraordinary circumstances – a temperature of -8ºC and a snow dump – as Atletico Ottawa won its first North Star Cup against Calvary FC of Calgary.
