Four Delaware lawmakers have joined the bipartisan PJM State Legislator Collaborative. Senators Stephanie Hansen and Russ Huxtable and Representatives Frank Burns and Debra Heffernan join lawmakers from 12 other states and the District of Columbia in urging PJM Interconnection, the regional grid operator for Delaware, to address the increasing pressure on electric rates and energy reliability concerns resulting from “large load additions” – meaning large energy users like data centers.
In a letter to Delmarva Power, whose parent company Pepco is a PJM voting member, the lawmakers state that the growth of these data centers must be incorporated in a fair way that ensures their costs are not unfairly socialized to Delaware ratepayers.
