Emirates has cancelled several flights to New York and Newark as a strong snowstorm sweeps across the US East Coast. The airline has also rescheduled other flights to help passengers reach their destinations safely.

Passengers affected by cancellations are advised to contact their travel agent, while those who booked directly with Emirates should get in touch with the airline.

EK202 – New York (JFK) to Dubai now leaves 22 February at 6pm (arrives 23 February at 3.25pm)

EK201 – Dubai to New York (JFK) now leaves 23 February at 2.30pm (arrives same day at 7.55pm)

EK206 – New York (JFK) to Milan now leaves 22 February at 8pm (arrives 23 February at 9.35am)

EK205 – Milan to New York (JFK) now leaves 23 February at 6.40pm (arrives same day at 9.55pm)

Passengers connecting via Dubai will be rebooked automatically to their final destination. Emirates urges travellers to keep an eye on flight updates.

Meteorologists are warning of heavy snow and strong winds hitting New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington DC along the busy Interstate 95 corridor. Snowfall could reach more than 2.5cm per hour in some areas, creating extremely difficult travel conditions.

The US National Weather Service says the wet, heavy snow could cause power outages and widespread disruption. New York City is bracing for its first major blizzard since 2016.
