Fairfax County's Office of Environmental and Energy Coordination is inviting residents to a webinar on how Northern Virginia communities can make the switch to solar together.
The Northern Virginia Regional Commission and Solar United Neighbors will host the session on Tuesday, October 20, from 12–1 p.m. ET. Speakers include Brandon Praileau, Virginia Program Director for Solar United Neighbors, and Sukrit Mishra, the DC Program Director and the Switch Together lead for the Capital Region.
They will share how the Switch Together program began, how it is helping Northern Virginia homeowners and small businesses go solar, and how it can strengthen renewable energy efforts across the region.
Switch Together is a group purchasing program that makes solar and battery storage more affordable and accessible. By combining bulk buying power, providing expert technical guidance, and vetting qualified installers, the program helps participants get competitive pricing and reliable installation services.
In 2026, Governor Spanberger announced a promotional partnership with Solar United Neighbors, expanding Switch Together into a statewide offering.
Organizers said the webinar is aimed at homeowners, business owners, and local leaders, and will show how group purchasing and community support can accelerate clean energy adoption throughout Northern Virginia.
The Office of Environmental and Energy Coordination leads the county's cross-organizational development and implementation of environmental and energy policies, goals, programs and projects, engaging county departments, authorities, businesses and residents.
