Fox’s McEnany Asks Trump DHS Spox About Acquitted Sandwich Guy: ‘You Can Just Throw Sandwiches at CBP Officials?!’

Fox News’s Kayleigh McEnany complained to a Trump administration official Saturday about “sandwich guy” Sean Dunn being acquitted of assault for chucking a subway sandwich at an ICE agent.

McEnany played a clip of Dunn outside of court after a jury exonerated him on the misdemeanor charge. Dunn was originally charged with a felony by Attorney General Pam Bondi, but the administration was unable to secure an indictment.

Outside the courthouse, Dunn said he believed he was “protecting the rights of immigrants” through his protest.

“Every life matters, no matter where you came from, no matter how you got here, no matter how you identify. You have the right to live a life that is free,” Dunn said.

On her show, Saturday in America, McEnany asked Tricia McLaughlin, assistant Department of Homeland Security secretary for public affairs, “What message does that send when you can just throw sandwiches at CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) officials?”

“What an embarrassment!” McLaughlin exclaimed.  “Can you imagine assaulting a federal officer and then getting up, grandstanding, wagging your finger at the American public?”

The American people have a right to safety and security. That’s exactly what the federal officers in Washington, D.C., what our ICE Law enforcement, CBP officers are bringing to American streets every single day. And this is as they’re facing a 1000% increase in assaults against them.

And it gets even worse than throwing a sandwich. We’re seeing terrorist attacks against them, people shooting at them, rocks being pummeled at them. It’s no laughing matter. This is just another despicable example of people putting dangerous rhetoric out there that put our law enforcement in danger.

“So, you have the guy throwing a sandwich — Let’s just let him off, no worries!” McEnany said sarcastically.

Bondi and Jeanine Pirro, United States attorney for the District of Columbia, had both vowed to make an example of Dunn, a former Department of Justice paralegal who became a viral sensation after being caught on video lobbing the hoagie at the officer’s chest.
