More than 150 people in Cumberland County will be laid off if a government contract isn’t renewed.
Peraton filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, informing the state it might have to lay off 153 people at 1250 Camp Hill Bypass in East Pennsboro Township, near Camp Hill.
“The purpose of this letter is to provide you with notice of the potential loss of employment on Peraton’s [SafeGuard Services Unified Program Integrity Contract Northeast] program located at 1250 Camp Hill Bypass, Camp Hill, PA, 17011 facility, including any teleworking employees or supporting operations, effective on or around October 31, 2025,” the company said in a letter to its employees.
The Northeast Unified Program Integrity Contract performs fraud, waste and abuse detection, deterrence and prevention activities for Medicare and Medicaid claims processed within the Northeastern Jurisdiction for the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, and the counties of Arlington and Fairfax and the city of Alexandria in Virginia, according to SafeGuard Services’ website.
“As we communicated during our All Hands meeting on October 14, 2025, we have been working with our customer to prepare for the renewal of the SGS UPIC NE contract, which is expected to begin on November 1, 2025. If the contract does not come through as we believe it to, there is a risk your employment with Peraton will be terminated on or around December 13, 2025,” the company said in the letter.
Officials from Peraton couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered business closing and a covered business mass layoff. The WARN notice was dated Oct. 14.
