Gunman identified after White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting

The gunman involved in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been identified.
CNN reports that sources identified the man as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old from California.
According to the interim chief of police for Washington, DC, Jeffery Carroll, Cole appears to be the lone gunman, and was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives.

“He was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives. As he ran through that checkpoint, members of law enforcement from the United States Secret Service intercepted that individual,” Carroll said.
Speaking further, Carroll added that there was an exchange of gunfire between Cole and law enforcement.
