PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A Virginian visited a fire station to thank the fire and rescue crews credited with saving his life after he went into cardiac arrest.

Prince William County Fire and Rescue said the man stopped by to see first responders at Station 12 after members successfully used CPR and resuscitated him during an emergency call.

Engine 512 and Medic 512 were originally called for a report of a man who had fallen. Officials said the person had reportedly passed out and fallen down a flight of stairs.

When crews showed up, they found the man unconscious but breathing and with a pulse.

Engine 512 arrived first and began checking the patient's vital signs, according to fire officials. Medic 512 came shortly after to help.

After first responders moved the man from the stairs, they noticed a change in his breathing pattern and found that his pulse had been lost.

Crews started CPR and kept going for about 10 minutes, while also administering epinephrine.

Officials said the patient's pulse returned, and crews ventilated him as they took him to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge. Va.
