In honor of Doctors’ Day, UVA Health donates $10,000 to six Va. nonprofits

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Six nonprofits in Virginia received $10,000 donations this week, as part of the University of Virginia Health System’s recognition of Doctors’ Day.

UVA Health says the effort is intended to honor more than 1,000 physicians across Charlottesville, Culpeper, and Northern Virginia, those who work around the clock to help patients in different ways.

This year’s recipients are Fauquier Free Clinic, Charlottesville Free Clinic, Free Clinic of Culpeper, Catholic Charities Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinics, Ronald McDonald House, and All Blessings Flow.

“They work incredibly hard, and we’re all deeply appreciative of their work and their compassion and the skill they bring every day to serve our patients and serve the community,” said Eric Swensen, Public Information Officer for UVA Health.
