Indiana National Guard soldiers arrive in DC

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana National Guard soldiers from the 113th Engineer Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 150th Field Artillery Regiment arrived in Washington D.C. this weekend to support the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Mission.
The guardsmen will work alongside local and federal partners to “help keep communities safe through patrols, traffic control, and a visible presence committed to peace and stability,” according to the Indiana National Guard.
“Our mission is simple. We will help create a safer environment for the people who live, work and visit there,” said Lt. Col. Derek Sutton, the D.C. contingent commander for the Indiana National Guard.
The guardsmen have trained for weeks at Camp Atterbury and will continue training with the Joint Task Force District of Columbia “as the mission evolves,” according to the Indiana National Guard.
