WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is no longer serving as Special Envoy to the Shield of the Americas, according to DHS Spokesperson Tommy Piggott.
Spokesperson Tommy Piggott confirmed the news in an interview on Thursday with NewsNation. Piggott said her time as special envoy has ended, but did not explain the reason for her exit.
Noem will continue, however, to serve as a senior adviser in the State Department, with Piggott telling the outlet that she would remain working on the Shield of the Americas.

"There’s always these types of changes that happen. This is part of what’s happening with these positions. But, certainly, we remain dedicated to implementing the president’s agenda across the board," Piggott explained.
Noem was named to the special envoy role by President Donald Trump after she was removed as Homeland Security Secretary in March.
The Shield of the Americas is a coalition led by the United States in the Western Hemisphere. President Trump established the coalition in March with a focus on regional security, counternarcotics enforcement of drug cartels, intelligence sharing, border security and critical mineral partnerships.
