FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — One man is dead and another was hospitalized following a car crash in Mount Vernon, Virginia.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), officers responded to the crash at Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and Patton Boulevard.
Police said one driver, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. The second driver, also an adult male, was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Crash Reconstruction detectives are looking into what caused the crash.
Authorities said Mount Vernon Memorial Highway is closed between Mount Vernon Road and Patton Boulevard while crews process the scene. Drivers are urged to use other routes.
