NEW: Arlington under Frost Advisory tonight

Protect those sensitive plants today — as frost is possible overnight.

That’s according to a Frost Advisory just issued by the National Weather Service for much of the D.C. area.

It’s the first Frost Advisory for Arlington of the season. More, below, from NWS.

…FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM EDT SATURDAY…

* WHAT…Temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation.

* WHERE…Portions of DC, central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and central and northern Virginia.

* IMPACTS…Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Biggest impacts will be outside of city centers, as well as areas further inland from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

While Arlington residents have not been able to put away their lawnmowers for the winter quite yet, the growing season has already ended for points well west of here.
