New fire chief will start in the new year

PITTSBURG, Kan. —  Pittsburg’s new fire chief will be making a big transition. Jack Spencer, who was recently named chief of the Pittsburg Fire Department, is coming from West Virginia, where he currently serves as the special operations battalion chief for the District of Columbia Fire and EMS. His appointment will take effect on Jan. 5, 2026.
