ALEXANDRIA, Va. (7News) — The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was found mortally wounded by gunfire inside an apartment building late Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Berkeley Street after receiving reports of gunfire. When authorities arrived, they found a man inside an apartment with a gunshot wound.

Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death, according to APD.

Police also said the shooting appears to be domestic-related, and everyone involved is believed to be accounted for.
