Heather Sherman has been added as chief philanthropy officer at Goodwin Living in Alexandria, VA. She succeeds Valerie Burke, who will retire in January after more than seven years of service.

Sherman brings more than 20 years of philanthropic and professional experience to her new role. She most recently was the vice president of fund development for Melwood. Prior to that role, she served for more than 12 years with the AARP Foundation in roles including gift planning officer and director of major and planned gifts.

Sherman earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and communications from DeSales University, a Master of Arts in philanthropy and development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, and a law degree in law from Purdue Global Law School.

Michael Quirk has been named chief operating officer at Boston-based Rogerson Communities, effective Dec. 1.

He most recently was vice president of housing operations at Integritus Healthcare in Pittsfield, MA.

The appointment comes as Rogerson enters the second year of a five-year strategic plan to will help the organization reach its target of 1,000 new affordable housing units by 2030, as well as expand its portfolio of programs and services for older adults across Massachusetts. Quirk will be charged with unifying and strengthening the organization’s operations as it centralizes operations and increases cross-functional collaboration.

Quirk’s professional background encompasses almost 15 years of experience in executive roles in independent living, assisted living, memory care, continuing care and skilled nursing organizations throughout Massachusetts, including Rogerson’s Briarwood community in Worcester.

Kaleigh Petree has been named vice president of sales operations and Kim Haddon has been promoted to regional director of operations at Watercrest Senior Living in Vero Beach, FL.

Petree has more than a decade of experience in senior living sales, marketing and operations.

Haddon brings to her new role more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with leadership roles in culinary, programming and mental health management. She has more than a decade of experience as an executive director and joined the Watercrest family in 2021 as executive director of the newly constructed Watercrest Santa Rosa Beach assisted living and memory care community.
