King Charles was seen chatting with a rather unexpected guest at a garden party during the start of his State Visit to the US with Queen Camilla.

Guy Pelly, a close friend of Prince Harry and Prince William, was seen among the 650 attendees at the British Embassy in Washington D.C. on Monday.

The former nightclub owner, 44, was close friends with the Duke of Sussex during his "party prince" days before marrying Meghan Markle. He is also Prince Louis's godfather and helped to organise Prince William's stag do.

Guy has remained close to Prince Harry since he stepped down as a working royal and even visited him and Meghan in California in September 2020, according to several reports at the time.

They have been friends for many years and were particularly close when Harry went on his gap year after leaving Eton.

In the past, Guy had a "party animal" reputation and was seen at celebrity hotspots in decades past. However, he has always remained very loyal to the princes and was once thought to be the "key" to mending their feud.

Harry and William attended his wedding to Lizzy Wilson in 2014 in Memphis, Tennessee.

In an interview with the Mail's Richard Kay in 2013, he insisted that he had "calmed down a bit socially" after reports of his wild partying, and denied reports he was Prince George's godfather.

Prince William and Kate clearly recognised his efforts and made him godfather to Prince Louis in 2018.

The King may have met with one of Harry's close pals, but he has no plans to meet with his youngest son during his visit to the US this week.
