NORWOOD - Calling hours for Richard F. Seifert Jr., 62, a resident of Norwood, will be held at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Wednesday, March 18th from 4 - 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date to be announced. Mr. Seifert passed away suddenly late Wednesday evening, March 11, 2026 at his home with his wife at his side.
Richard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Robyn, Norwood; his son, Brian Seifert, Boston, MA; two step-children, Charles Varney and Sara Varney Pircusk; six grandchildren; his mother, Edna Seifert; a brother, Robert Seifert and a sister, Lori Seifert Smith as well as his nieces and nephews.
Born in Alexandria, VA on December 8, 1963 to Edna Humble Seifert and Richard Seifert Sr., Richard graduated from Oswegatchie High School. He then earned a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Science from Clarkson University, in Technology. He worked at Clarkson University for many years before realizing he wanted to be a teacher. After finishing his second Master's degree, this time in Education from SUNY Potsdam, he worked at Potsdam Central School for many more years as a middle school teacher.
He truly loved teaching and enjoyed camping and travelling. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycles and working with his hands - especially working on expanding his home.
