South Block Brings Good Vibes to Gainesville With 27th Block Opening Aug. 8

Gainesville, VA  (Restaurant News Release)  South Block is opening its doors in Gainesville on Saturday, Aug. 8, bringing its handcrafted acai bowls, fresh smoothies and cold-pressed juices to the Northern Virginia suburbs with a new shop at 13945 Promenade Commons St.

Opening day celebrations will begin at 11 a.m., with the first 100 guests in line receiving a FREE Mini Warrior Acai Bowl and the first 50 taking home an exclusive embroidered mini tote bag. Throughout the day, a live DJ, swag drops and additional giveaways will turn the festivities into a full-on neighborhood block party.

Nestled in one of Northern Virginia’s fastest-growing suburbs, Gainesville has become a thriving hub for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and professionals, with a growing mix of neighborhoods, shopping, dining, and recreation.

“Gainesville knows how to bring the energy – you’ve got families and neighbors who really show up for each other and a world-class concert venue right down the street,” said Amir Mostafavi, CEO and founder of South Block. “That’s exactly our kind of place. We’re here to fuel it all, whether you’re headed to a show, running errands with the kids or just need a delicious bowl or sip to start your day.”

From signature acai bowls to made-to-order smoothies and cold-pressed juices, every item at the Gainesville shop will be crafted fresh with real, high-quality ingredients. Craveable toasts and protein-packed smoothies round out a menu built to fuel whatever the day brings.

Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Gainesville location marks South Block’s 27th store across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.

South Block opened its first location in Arlington, Va., in 2011, with a mission to make people feel awesome one block at a time. It specializes in fresh, made-to-order smoothies, açai bowls, toasts and cold-pressed juices. The name was inspired by its first location on the south side of a block in the Clarendon neighborhood. South Block now has 26 locations across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Mostafavi also started a nonprofit for South Block called Fruitful Planet, which helps provide fresh fruits and vegetables to underserved communities. Learn more at SouthBlock.com.
