SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — Summerville Police announced that a suspect is in custody in another country following a January shooting at a Sonic Drive-In.

Anthony Prioleau, now 20, of Summerville, is in custody in Indonesia. Police say he attempted to flee the country after the Sonic shooting. When he returns to the United States, he will face charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Police say they learned Jan. 16 that Prioleau left South Carolina for Washington, DC. It was there he allegedly obtained a temporary passport and traveled to New York City, boarding an international flight at JFK airport heading for Bali, Indonesia.

However, officers were in contact with the United States Marshal’s Service and United States Homeland Security, who then worked with authorities in Bali, notifying them of Prioleau’s imminent arrival.

Indonesian Immigration Authority agents were waiting for Prioleau when he arrived; those agents say Prioleau attempted to flee on foot but was caught and brought into custody, where he remains.

The shooting claimed the life of 18-year-old Kymani Baker, who was working at the Sonic on Dorchester Road Jan. 9 when he was killed.

That shooting took place shortly before 8:30 a.m. that day, sending both Oakbrook Elementary School and Oakbrook Middle School into a lockdown.

Baker was noted to have been the victim of another shooting, at a Marcos Pizza in Ladson. Police believe he was the specific target of both of these shootings.
