Thurston County to celebrate National Adoption Day by finalizing six local adoptions

Thurston County recently announced its 21st annual National Adoption Day Celebration will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, and invited the community to join the in-person event at the County’s Family and Juvenile Court, 2801 32nd Ave. SW, Tumwater.

The event will feature six local families finalizing adoptions on Thursday and will celebrate adoptive families and those who work to raise awareness of the many children in Washington awaiting a forever family through adoption, a news release stated.

County judges, government officials, lawyers, private individuals and families will be on hand to commemorate the special day.

More than 1,000 children have been adopted by step-parents, domestic partners, individuals and couples in Thurston County since the county’s first National Adoption Day event in 2004. These families make a difference in the lives of children and the community, the county stated in the release.

National Adoption Day is now celebrated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to the release.
