WASHINGTON (TNND) — New attacks on commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz continue -- even while President Donald Trump said a deal to end the war with Iran is near.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday said an Iranian missile hit an ADNOC-owned vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
ADNOC said in a statement that there were no casualties following the attack. At least a dozen of its vessels have been hit by missiles and drones while passing through the strait since the U.S. and Israel launched the war on Iran in February, killing one crew member and hurting 20 others, according to ADNOC.
Separately, another commercial vessel near Oman reported being hit. Investigators said the are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and natural gas exports, remains at the center of ongoing diplomatic efforts. Iran and Oman continue discussing a framework that could regulate or reopen shipping through the corridor, but significant disagreements remain, including issues involving U.S. and Israeli access and Iran's calls for sanctions relief.

The Trump administration has continued to signal its willingness to pursue negotiations, while warning Tehran that military action remains an option if diplomacy fails.
This comes less than a week after Trump said the U.S. was prepared to launch a major strike against Iran -- before delaying action to allow talks to continue.
Elsewhere in the region, fighting has intensified in Yemen as government forces renewed operations against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels following fresh attacks, raising concerns that a fragile truce could collapse.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan also announced a new defense partnership as regional governments reassess security arrangements.
