[UAU: Playlist #Your Youth] Tour Banner; Dreamcatcher CompanyBeing a sub-unit of the rocking girl group Dreamcatcher, three of the members forged a trio that took on a different identity from the main group. Members JiU, SuA, and Yoohyeon form the unit UAU. The name of the trio came about as each of the letters is derived from each of the members’ first initials in Korean. Breaking down the name, UAU stands for “you are you”. Concept-wise, the three of them focus on making music that helps fans and anyone who comes across their music, embrace their true selves. Through music, the trio hopes to give people hope, unburden worries, and feel free as they move in their daily lives. Moving past the main group’s signature rock, metal, and dark sound, UAU brings the inspiration and life in their music as they like to release each album that explores a playlist structure. Each of the songs on the album makes for different groovy and upbeat songs that can uplift a person’s day. The trio first made their debut on May 28, 2025, with their first mini album [Playlist #You Are You]. The album features four songs, with their title track being 2 months [1st Mini Album: Playlist #You Are You]. This track tells a tale of figuring out a confusing yet fast-moving relationship as it hits the 2-month mark of the bond. Though the theme may seem like the opposite of upbeat, it connects with the relatability that many people face when coming to terms with a new relationship.

The trio’s latest comeback is their second mini album: Playlist #Your Youth. This album takes a detour from the first mini album as the concept shifts to focus on an upbeat, colorful concept of embracing one’s authentic self and self-discovery. The title track, GENE [2nd Mini Album: Playlist #Your Youth], channels the message of breaking the status quo caused by societal pressures. The lyricism pushes the song to fight for an individual’s path of pushing away stress and living life on their own terms. As for the name of the song itself, the word gene is used as a play on words. Genes are the fabric of code that makes a person, which the song highlights to be a person’s origin in unique traits and personal qualities rather than how one is perceived externally. With the two mini albums in their discography alone, the sub-unit has achieved a lot of milestones. Their first mini album, Playlist #You Are You, charted at number 10 on the Circle Album Chart in South Korea after selling 94,000 albums. Continuing this momentum, their second mini album, Playlist #Your Youth, charted at number 12 on the Circle Album Chart in South Korea. This album also peaked at number 11 on the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart. As a trio, they also won the Top Stage Performance award on Show Champion. The ongoing fan concert tour is a chance for the sub-unit to promote and share the sounds of their second mini album. Their momentum never stopped as they released their debut mini album and moved to their latest second mini album. Making their return to the United States in 2025, the trio hopes to share their newfound musical optimism and share the energy with their dedicated fans: Insomnias (the fan name that’s also kept from their group, which means ‘In dreams’ in Latin).

How might you know them?: Being the sub-unit of the very famous group Dreamcatcher, the three members of UAU are known for their rock-inspired and experimental sound. The song that created their creative trio was released 2 months [1st Mini Album: Playlist #You Are You]. Completely separating themselves from the main group they’re part of (Dreamcatcher), the trio went forward with a more upbeat sound in their music, which is different from their usual. They then explored different branches of the pop music genre with their song GENE [2nd Mini Album: Playlist #Your Youth]. Through this sub-unit, the trio has inspired fans with their unique one-of-a-kind concept of accepting one’s identity in everyday life.
