WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Only one half of Congress is on Capitol Hill this week. The House of Representatives is on recess, despite the Department of Homeland Security still going without funding.
House Republicans will be in Florida for the conference’s annual issues retreat. President Donald Trump is expected to address lawmakers there Monday, just one day after he posted on social media calling on party leaders to use the filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act.
Trump threatened to not sign any other bills until that piece of legislation reaches his desk.
Then, on Wednesday, President Trump heads to Cincinnati to tout his plan to lower prescription drug prices. He’s expected to discuss his Most Favored Nation Pricing agreement and the Trump-RX website.
Also this week, primary season continues as voters in Mississippi head to the polls Tuesday. Marquee races include Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith’s bid for reelection.
And, IndyCar will be “starting its engine,” in the nation’s capital.
IndyCar leaders will join Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser to officially unveil the logo and course for the Freedom 250 race, which is set for August 23rd.
