The B.C. government late last year filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against e-cigarette manufacturer Juul Labs Inc., alleging the company was engaged in “deceptive marketing practices” and making products aimed at youth that were highly addictive.

“We will continue to use every tool available to hold bad actors responsible for the harms they created, and ensure accountability from those who put profits ahead of the well-being of British Columbians,” Attorney General Niki Sharma said at the time.

This wasn’t the first proposed class-action against the vaping product manufacturer filed in B.C. Supreme Court. In 2019, two B.C. men filed a lawsuit claiming they suffered “adverse health conditions” from using the company’s e-cigarettes.
