Mary Davidson Smith received 105 cards for her 105th birthday – including from King Charles

A centenarian has marked her 105th birthday in remarkable style by receiving 105 cards from across the globe.

Mary Davidson Smith, a resident at Care UK’s Murrayside care home in Edinburgh, expressed having a "wonderful time" reading the well-wishes, which arrived following an appeal by the home.

Cards travelled from as far afield as Singapore for her July celebration.

Ms Smith also holds the rare distinction of receiving a card from King Charles, having previously received one from the late Queen Elizabeth.

She celebrated her milestone with a "wonderful family day" and enjoyed afternoon tea with friends at Murrayside.

Born in Korea, Mary lived internationally during her youth, including periods in England, Canada, and the US.

She later joined the Royal Navy and met her future husband, British Army officer Charles Wynard Davidson Smith, while posted in Washington DC.
