He expressed concerns over Venezuela, describing it as an unfriendly nation. He stated that millions of individuals have been sent from Venezuela, including those with criminal backgrounds such as prisoners, gang members, and drug dealers.
In response to a query about whether his recent alert concerning Venezuelan airspace suggested an impending airstrike, Trump stated, “Don’t read anything into it.”
On Saturday, Trump declared that Venezuelan airspace would be “entirely closed off.”
Multiple sources familiar with the situation disclosed to The New York Times that a phone call took place involving Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which there was a discussion about a potential meeting in the United States between the two individuals.
Caracas has mobilized its defense forces in response to the substantial deployment of U.S. military assets in the Caribbean, signaling a focus on Venezuela.
Officials from the Trump administration have stated that the deployment of forces aims to curtail drug smuggling operations. However, they have also been transparent about their intentions to push for a “regime change” in Venezuela, expressing the desire for Maduro to be ousted from power.
Trump announced on Thursday that the United States is poised to implement measures targeting Venezuelan drug traffickers on land. This follows 21 military operations conducted at sea since September, which have resulted in the deaths of at least 83 individuals.
Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro has denounced the persistent threats from the United States to employ military force against Caracas. He asserted that Trump’s strategy to seize Venezuela’s substantial oil reserves through military intervention and psychological tactics is destined to collapse.
